University of Texas Men’s Water Polo
Article 1: Name of Organization
This student organization shall be known as the University of Texas Men’s Water Polo Club Team.
Article II: Purpose
The purpose and objectives of this organization shall be to play, teach, and promote the sport of water polo at the University of Texas at Austin.
Article III: Membership
Membership in this organization is open to all University of Texas students who meet these qualifications:
-Must be able to pay a $!50 Semester Fee.
-Prior swimming experience is necessary
Article IV: Officers
A. The officers of this organization shall be Team Captain, Co-Captain, Treasurer, and RecSports Representative.
B. The officers of this organization shall be elected during May from the active members excluding those who will not be returning in the Fall.
C. The duties of the officers of this organization shall be those usually performed by such officers. Specific duties are as follows:
a. Captain- Preside over all elections, give insight at all practices, coach any necessary concepts of the game, and be willing to accept opinions of other players.
b. Co-Captain: Second in charge after the Captain, should be willing to assist the Captain in any of his duties, and/or perform the Captain’s duties if he is not present.
c. Treasurer- Make every member aware of their financial commitments each semester for the entire amount of dues, collecting all dues on specified dates, maintaining ledgers of the club’s monetary activities , keeping MSC accounts organized, and help RecSports Advisor prepare any necessary reports.
d. RecSports Representative- Serves as the liaison between the UT Water Polo Club and the University, will fill out any necessary paperwork before traveling to any event, will update the University with any new information of the Club, will attend all mandatory RecSports Representative meetings, and will perform all other responsibilities of a RecSports Representative as mentioned in the representative handbook.
D. If any officer continues to fail in carrying out his duties after being informed of their lack of effort, the remaining officers reserve the right to appoint a replacement from the active membership to fill out the term of that officer.
E. The election of officers shall follow these guidelines:
a. Any person wishing to run for office should be present at the meeting designated for elections.
b. The Captain/Co-Captain will explain the responsibilities of each position and the terms for replacement.
